Celebrate Canada 150 and United Nations International Day of Co-operatives on July 1

Happy birthday Canada! Is your co-op doing something special to mark the occasion? Let us know #Canada150. Co-ops are important to Canada’s economy and social fabric. Tell us what your co-op means to you #coop150.

Did you know July 1 is also the United Nations International Day of Co-operatives

This year we celebrate inclusion with the slogan "co-operatives ensure no one is left behind." Housing co-ops show their commitment to diversity and inclusion by creating communities where all people, regardless of race, gender, culture, social background or economic circumstance, can live together.

One way CHF BC values diversity and inclusion is by celebrating our co-op pioneers with our Century of Cooperation awardsNominate someone at your co-op today!  Then tell us how your co-op celebrates diversity and inclusion #coopsday.

Canada’s history of respecting diversity and inclusion is not without blemishes. June 21 was National Indigenous Peoples Day. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada has issued 94 calls to action to redress the harmful legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Co-op communities can play a role in revitalizing our relationship with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Start the conversation in your co-op today.

And finally, we will be celebrating a special occasion on July 27 this year.  Can you guess what it is?  Watch here for clues in the coming weeks...
