Semi-Annual General Meeting - a great day with exciting news for co-ops

CHF BC members met on Sunday, May 6, for an afternoon packed with exciting news and opportunities to connect with each other.

The afternoon began with a lunch and the presentation of our popular CHF BC scholarships. This year's winners are Morgan Dowling of Cedar Mill Co-op in Vancouver and Emily Lowan of Broadoaks Co-op in Victoria.

The board report featured highlights of recent federal, provincial and municipal housing announcements. Members were thrilled to learn that CHF BC's Community Land Trust will build over 1,000 units of permanently affordable housing on seven sites contributed by the City of Vancouver.

Members approved CHF BC's budget for 2018-19, which outlined an ambitious set of outcomes and no dues increase for this coming fiscal year. Membership dues will remain at $4.10 per unit per month for occupied housing co-ops.

Delegates took part in a spirited discussion of a vision for the national co-op housing movement and everyone was encouraged to register a delegate to attend the CHF Canada Annual Meeting which takes place in Victoria June 6 to 9.
