National Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) funding program can help housing co-ops looking to support the adoption of zero emission vehicles by members.
ZEVIP is a $680 million initiative running until 2027. It aims to increase the number of charging and refuelling stations for zero emission vehicles across Canada. The program targets multiple infrastructure streams, focusing on public places, on-street locations, workplaces, commercial and public fleets and — most importantly for housing co-ops — multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs).
Does your co-op have a common entrance and at least three (3) storeys or a footprint greater than 600 m2?
You could be eligible to access incentives for chargers. The incentive amounts vary depending on the kind of charger. Are you looking at fast chargers? Or Level 2 EV chargers? The program can offer support of up to 50% of total project costs, up to maximums of between $5,000 (3.3kW to 19.2kW) and $100,000 (for 200kW total charging capacity and above). Even hydrogen refuelling stations are considered.
The program will accept Requests for Proposals until August 11, 2022.
