Following the success of our hybrid SAGM earlier this year, and to ensure all our members have access to the meeting, we will open again be offering a hybrid online and in-person event.
The heart of co-op housing is a sense of connectedness and community. Networking is undoubtedly the most valuable aspect of attending an event in person, but we recognize that not everyone is ready to take that leap. For some, the convenience of staying at home and reducing travel and childcare costs is equally important.
Each CHF BC member may be represented by one delegate. Each member may also appoint an alternate delegate. A delegate orientation video will be shared in advance of the meeting.
We encourage members who are not their co-op’s delegate to register as observers. Individuals from non-member organizations are invited to register as guests.
Registration will close Thursday, November 17 at 3:00 p.m.
Whether you are a new delegate for your co-op, or someone who’s been to CHF BC meetings in the past, this video will give an orientation to the federation and show you everything you need to know about the meeting. It also describes how you can fully participate whether you are attending in person or online.
At the AGM, there will be a special resolution presented by the board. The resolution is intended to provide effective financial oversight and risk management for CHF BC and its group of social enterprises.
WE RESOLVE:
THAT Article 7 (Finance Committee) of CHF BC’s Rules be and is hereby repealed;
AND THAT the board be directed to submit the special resolution as adopted to the Registrar of Companies for approval and filing.
Download the full text of the resolution (PDF)
More background information on the special resolution is included in the PDF above, and will be included in the Delegate Handbook to be circulated before the November 20 Annual General Meeting.
The deadline to submit resolutions was 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Any resolutions that are received now will be referred to the Board of Directors unless the meeting decides that they are urgent and require the immediate attention of AGM delegates. Annual General Meeting resolutions must be submitted in the format outlined in the Call for Resolutions (PDF).
CHF BC is honoured to have Djaka Blais (she/her) the Executive Director, and Udokam Iroegbu, Director of Special Projects, from the Hogan’s Alley Society (HAS) speak at the AGM. You can read more about her and the HAS here.
There are five at-large board positions to be filled at this year’s Annual General Meeting.
Each position is for a two-year term.
