2023 CHF BC Scholarship Fund applications are now open
25 January 2023 CHF BC is now accepting applications for the twelfth year of our successful scholarship program. The CHF BC Scholarship Fund supports the educational goals of housing co-op members, particularly young co-op members who are already making a contribution to their communities.

Are you a young co-op member with educational goals? Do you know a young co-op member who demonstrates community leadership?
The application form provides a checklist of documentation you will need to submit with your application. Scholarships will be awarded in May at our Semi-Annual General Meeting (SAGM). Each year we recruit an independent review committee so that the selection of scholarship recipients won’t be made by CHF BC staff or directors.
The application deadline is Friday, March 31, 2023 at 4:30 pm
Eligibility
To be eligible for a CHF BC Scholarship, an applicant must:
- Live in a CHF BC member housing co-op
- Plan to attend, or already attend, a Canadian, publicly-funded, accredited college, university or government-approved apprenticeship program on a full-time basis
- Be making a positive contribution to their school, co-op, or community
- Demonstrate financial need
Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate studies only.
Scholarship Details
Each scholarship is worth up to $5,000 and is awarded in multiple years: $2,000 in the first year of study and then $1,000 a year for up to three more years.
Each year we recruit an independent review committee so that the selection of scholarship recipients won’t be made by CHF BC staff or directors.
About the Scholarship Fund
We remember how excited we were to launch our CHF BC Scholarship Fund in 2012, based on the successful model pioneered by CHF Toronto. Since then, the fund has supported the educational goals of co-op members—particularly young members—who are actively engaged in making a positive contribution to their communities. In the last 10 years, we have awarded a total of 27 scholarships to a variety of co-op members pursuing a wide range of post-secondary education goals.
We are proud to support the next generation of co-op leaders by investing in our young members, and others who may be returning to school. We also know these scholarship winners have a lot to offer right now. Past winners have been elected as co-op and CHF BC directors, joined CHF BC committees and involved themselves in exciting new initiatives.
