2023 Spring Forum Plenaries

CHF BC is thrilled to reveal the lineup of plenaries for the upcoming Spring Forum! We have carefully selected a diverse range of speakers to share their expertise and insights With their wealth of knowledge and experience, our plenary speakers are sure to inspire and inform attendees at this year’s forum.

 

Collective Impact

Often coined the “superhighway” to homelessness, youth aging out of government care face poverty, trauma, discrimination and a lack of housing or support resources to meet their needs.  CHF BC is proud to be partnering with TRRUST, a Collective Impact initiative seeking to use the lived experiences of youth in care to make system-wide improvements and support young people. In this session, we will hear, in their own voices, the journey of two young adults who left government care. It will highlight how housing co-ops can help address youth homelessness and benefit from a new community member who brings a unique perspective.  Following the session, we will invite co-ops to sign up to continue the conversation by exploring how housing co-op boards, through policy and practices, can give priority placement to youth exiting government care.

 

 

Shaping Future Leaders through Community

Ethọ́s Lab is a not-for-profit doing incredible work in creating a culture shift in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).  With an under-representation of persons of colour, girls, femmes, and women in STEAM, they are on a mission to channel young diverse voices to create an inclusive future that better reflects our humanity.  In this plenary, members of the Ethọ́s Lab team will share their experiences and share how they have co-created a space where a sense of belonging is at the core of empowering youth to be creators versus consumers.
