CLT History

CLT began as an idea and saw acquisition of its first properties—home to six housing co-operatives—in the early 2000s.

The Community Land Trust’s first properties were transferred to CLT. by the British Columbia provincial government.

In in 2012, a groundbreaking partnership with the City of Vancouver was the catalyst for CLT’s growth and expansion. The partnership provided the necessary scale to leverage additional opportunities and employ  innovative strategies for housing development.

Since then, CLT has expanded to include both co-op and non-profit society homes . It now has a presence on Vancouver Island, Metro Vancouver and the Interior. The CLT portfolio includes more than 2,600 homes that we have acquired, built or redeveloped so that households with low to moderate incomes, across ages and abilities have a great place to call home.
