New Pre-Zoned Land Now Accepting Housing Proposals and Partnerships

BC Builds is a housing program—delivered by BC Housing—to speed up the development of new homes for middle-income working people throughout British Columbia. The recently announced BC Builds’ Housing Development Opportunities initiative advances this program by connecting zoned land with development partners to speed up timelines, and deliver more affordable homes for British Columbians.

Housing Development Opportunities Overview

1. Available Land Parcels:
   • Eight parcels of underutilized, publicly owned land spanning from the Interior of B.C. to Vancouver Island are ready for redevelopment. These sites have been pre-zoned for multi-unit residential use by municipal governments. The pre-zoning reduces the timelines and costs associated with rezonings.
2. Collaboration for Impact:
   • BC Builds invites developers and housing operators to join forces to address the province’s pressing housing needs. The identified sites complement existing projects, promising approximately 524 homes in North Vancouver, Duncan, Gibsons, and Vancouver.
3. Expanding Horizons:
   • Additional sites will emerge through partnerships with First Nations, local governments, and community landowners.
