CHF BC Supports Community Following Lapu Lapu Day Block Party

  28 April 2025

Following the tragic events at Saturday’s Lapu Lapu Day Block Party, everyone at CHF BC extends our condolences to the impacted communities and families, who remain in our hearts during this time.

We were saddened to hear that a member of our own CHF BC community lost several family members. Our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time. A Go Fund Me has been created to support the family.

“We are all shaken by the news of Saturday’s tragic events at the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver,” said Thom Armstrong, CEO, CHF BC, CLT, COHO.  “It’s hard to process such a senseless act of violence, and the impact is being felt throughout the community.”

Community is at the center of everything we do at CHF BC. Communities learn, work, and celebrate together. And they grieve together. Today, we are grieving alongside our community, where we are keeping our Filipino friends and neighbours in our hearts.

We offer our shoulders for support, our hands to help, our ears to listen, and our voices to amplify. We encourage our wider community of members and partners of CHF BC, CLT, and COHO to do the same.

We have also collected resources, both for those in need of support, and those to wish to provide support.
