Energy Efficiency Upgrade Rebates for Co-op Homes

  7 June 2024

Is your co-op looking at upgrades to improve energy efficiency?

The CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program provides rebates for improving your home’s energy efficiency through select upgrades.

Qualifying co-op homes can access rebates for heat pumps, water heaters, insulation and window upgrades, and more.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible building types include row homes and townhomes
  • Each unit has its own natural gas and/or electricity meter
  • Be a FortisBC and/or BC Hydro customer
  • Utility accounts must be in the name of the resident / co-op member; accounts in the name of the co-op are not eligible
  • Must be a year-round primary residence that is at least 12 months old

Multi-unit residential buildings (e.g. apartment buildings) are not eligible for the rebate program.

Visit the program eligibility webpage for more information and a complete list of criteria and terms.

BC Hydro, FortisBC, and the Government of British Columbia provide funding for this program.

Municipal Top-Ups

A growing number of local governments in BC are offering top-up rebates. Municipal top-ups are limited, subject to funding availability, and approved on a first-come, first-served basis. No additional application is required for the municipal top-up offers; eligibility is automatically assessed when you submit a CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate application.

Municipalities with top-up rebates currently available include New Westminster, Kamloops, Kelowna, and more.
