Aging in our Co-op Communities

We all get older. Aging in place means having the health and social supports and services people need to live safely and independently in their home for as long as they wish and are able. It can have substantial benefits for older members, their families and the co-op community.

As housing co-ops reach new age milestones so do co-op members. How can we make our co-ops for age-friendly communities? Together we can learn about how we can support not only older members to age well in the co-op but also develop a culture that keeps aging in mind.

This workshop will cover:

  • The challenges and benefits of aging in place in our co-op homes.
  • The role the co-op community and management can play in helping members age in place.
  • Available resources.
