This Truth and Reconciliation panel discussion aims to address the ongoing systemic barriers Indigenous peoples face in housing and bring awareness of how inter-generational, vicarious, and collective trauma resulting from “Indian Residential Schools” has caused disproportionate homelessness, housing precarity, and core housing need.
Through personal narrative and sharing research findings, speakers will bring to light the importance of culturally supported housing models that contribute to health, healing, and well-being for Indigenous individuals impacted by the residential school system. It will also highlight the importance of Indigenous rights and self-determination in housing.
