6 – 8 p.m. | Marpole Museum, 8743 Marine Dr SW, Vancouver, BC V6P 6A5
You are invited to come meet your neighbour housing co-operators and explore the community together. This is another in a series of events CHF BC has been hosting.
Marpole features one of the tightest clusters of co-ops in the Lower Mainland: Wit’s End, Marine Court, Marpole Terrace, David Wetherow and Rishon all sit within a couple of blocks of one another and have been a non-market housing anchor in the community for four decades. The community is made up of a diverse group of people who are passionate about working together to create safe and welcoming housing. Not that far away are some other south and central Vancouver co-ops like Eburne Landing, Vera, Ashley Mar, Crossroads and Griffin’s Walk.
We’re planning to first meet outside the Marpole Museum (8743 Marine Dr SW) and move as a group to tour some of the neighbourhood co-ops! During the tour, you will have the opportunity to learn from our members about how their co-ops work. You may also get a chance to see some homes and common spaces, and you will be able to ask questions about policies and procedures. The larger group will then assemble again at the Marpole Neighbourhood House for a chance to eat together and get to know each other one a little more.
We believe that everyone has something to contribute to our communities, and we are excited to hear your thoughts and ideas. We hope that this gathering and tour will be a chance for us to build new relationships and partnerships that will benefit everyone. This gathering follows successes in Kitsilano, Grandview-Woodland and Victoria on Vancouver Island.
We invite you to join us. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our experiences (and a meal) with you!
*Please note: local area co-op members will get priority. As the number of registrants grows, we may limit participants from any one co-op to ensure any interested co-ops can be part of the event. Please register below early to ensure your spots!*
