Phase 2 of the Federal Community Housing Initiative (FCHI-2) provides support to low-income households residing in co-operatives across BC and the country.

Previously co-ops entering into FCHI-2 agreements with Canada and Mortgage Housing Corporation faced limitations in changing the number of supported households. Consideration was only possible when CMHC opened a call for applications. However, the 2024 federal budget introduced some new flexibilities. Now if there are additional eligible households, participating co-ops can make applications for them as needed. CMHC is accepting applications on a continuous basis.

It’s important to note that applying does not guarantee acceptance, and that funding remains limited both in terms of dollar amounts and time. Currently the FCHI-2 program is set to conclude at the end of March 2028.
