A mother and her 15 year old son at Harris Road Housing Co-op in Pitt Meadows awoke early Friday morning to find their unit on fire. They escaped without injury, but lost all their worldly possessions. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Their two cats and two dogs made it out safely.
Members are trying to help the family replace some of the possessions they lost. Any clothes, blankets, toiletries or food that you can spare would be greatly appreciated. The son could use large or extra-large clothing and dog and cat food are also needed.
Donations can be dropped off at the co-op’s community room at Harris Road and 119th Avenue in Pitt Meadows between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Or you can call Cheryl, the co-op’s president, at the co-op office 604-465-1938.
