CHF BC is happy to join this year’s International Women’s Day campaign #EmbraceEquity.
On March 8th each year, CHF BC celebrates the achievements of women and raise awareness of the ongoing struggle for gender equality. Embrace equity means to fully adopt the principles and practices of fairness, justice, and equality in all aspects of life. This includes treating all individuals with respect, dignity, and compassion, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or any other identity factor.
One of CHF BC’s strategic priorities is belonging. We want our co-ops to be communities that promote and embody equitable access, opportunity, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. To this end, we are committed to involves listening, learning, and changing, as well as amplifying the voices of our members, friends, and partners so that inclusivity and becomes the norm in our world.
Embracing equity requires acknowledging and addressing systemic injustices and inequalities that exist in society, and actively working towards creating a more just and equitable world. This can involve advocating for policy changes, supporting marginalized communities, and educating oneself and others about the ways in which systemic oppression affects different groups.
“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
Gloria Steinham
