On the spring-like evening of Wednesday, February 25, a group of Vancouver Island members met and shared a few hours together at the Vancouver Island Council meeting. As usual there were a lot of interesting topics covered. Members had a chance to learn about the Victoria Health Co-operative from board member and Co-op Sector Liaison,Vanessa Hammond, the Aging in Place survey (to be launched soon) from Alison Planche, Aging in Place survey coordinator, and to hear reports from Island directors Patty Shaw and Art Farquharson on upcoming Island events and news. The directors also gave an update on the You Hold the Key Campaign and reminded Island co-ops to pass a resolution supporting the campaign and send it to their elected officials, and let the campaign team at keycampaign@chf.bc.ca know to add them to the list of co-ops that have “shown some resolve”.Members also got to meet the newly onboard Director of Education – Sophie Cooper. There were a few laughs, some good questions and lots of member interaction. All in all a great Vancouver Island Council meeting to start off the new year. Hope to see everyone again at the next meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
