Leaky co-op campaign targets key MPs

  3 June 2010

The campaign to solve the leaky co-op crisis entered a new phase in April, targeting six BC MPs with a phone blitz geared to getting them to agree to meetings. The targeted MPs are David Anderson, Herb Dhaliwal, Stephen Owen, Paul Forseth, Hedy Fry or James Moore?
The leaky co-op campaign has sent thousands of postcards and letters to these and other politicians. It is now time to turn up the heat another notch.
Over the first half of April CHF BC is organizing a phone campaign to get key BC MPs to meet and discuss how to get CMHC moving to finally help leaky co-ops.
At the very same time the Federation has asked co-op members in Ontario to phone the Ottawa offices of these MPs so that they really get the message. But it’s important that they get a lot of calls all at once over the next few
weeks.
So please call your MP and tell them it’s vital that they meet with co-op members by agreeing to CHF BC’s request for a meeting immediately. For tips on exactly what to say checkout the leaky co-op website. You can also checkout video showing what other co-op members have to say to one particular MP, David Anderson, who said he didn’t have time to meet.
Here are the local constituency office numbers of the target MPs:
David Anderson – MP Victoria – (250) 363-3600
Herb Dhaliwal – MP Vancouver South – Burnaby (604) 775-5323
Stephen Owen – MP Vancouver-Quadra (604) 664-9220
Paul Forseth – MP New Westminster- Burnaby (604) 666-5446
Hedy Fry – MP Vancouver Centre (604) 666-0135
James Moore – MP for Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam (604) 937-5650
If your MP isn’t on this list, please call one of them anyway and tell them to meet with us.
On behalf of BC’s leaky co-ops, thank you for your support.
