CHF BC members enjoyed a sunny Sunday afternoon together on May 7 at our Semi-Annual General Meeting in the Westin Wall Centre in Richmond. After a delicious lunch, we awarded the sixth annual CHF BC scholarships. Our 2017 winners are Laura Fletcher of Access Housing Co-op and Celina Calogero of Kinross Creek Housing Co-op, both Vancouver co-ops. Find out more about our scholarship program.
Delegates got an overview of CHF BC’s strategic vision covering the years between now and 2022, along with a review of the operational priorities for the coming fiscal year.
A report from the CHF BC board included updates on the popular Telecom Program (find out more about CHF BC’s partnership with Telus and our Group Buying Program), our Planning and Renewal services (find out more about construction), and the expanded Education Program that now provides scheduled workshops, a full-day education event for members on Vancouver Island and an education day in the Okanagan. Watch for more opportunities on our new website, due to launch in the summer. With two days left in the provincial election campaign, members held an engaging pre-election “rally” where they tackled the challenge of how to “make housing central” after election day.
The meeting ended with unanimous approval of the Federation’s budget and dues schedule for the coming year. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our 2017 Annual General Meeting on November 19th. Keep that date in your calendars and we’ll send you more information in the months ahead.
