May is Asian Heritage Month and CHF BC is celebrating the rich Asian heritage of our communities.
We acknowledge the Asian-heritage community leaders and builders and want to uplift their voices and stories. We will also begin the work to formally tackle anti-Asian racism while acknowledging that this is an ongoing process and just the beginning of our work to dismantle structural racism.
In May 2021 we are offering two anti-Asian racism training webinars with Dr. Grace Wong-Sneddon:
Stronger Together: Stand up to Asian Hate on May 13 from 6 to 8 p.m
We are also featuring a FREE double-bill Movie Night of Cedar and Bamboo and All Our Father’s Relations. The directors of Cedar and Bamboo, Kamala Todd and Diana Leung were invited to join us to discuss the film.
This video highlights prominent Canadians of Asian Heritage such as, Douglas Jung, Adrienne Clarkson, Kim Thuy, Dr. Tak Wah Mak, and Carol Huynh, who among many others have done so much to make Canada the culturally diverse, compassionate and prosperous nation we know today. Canada’s cultural diversity strengthens the country socially, politically and economically in innumerable ways.
