UPDATE: Rental Assistance Program (FCHI-2) Action Plans

  3 March 2022

UPDATE

We received the following message from Francesca (Franca) Sorace at the Agency:

I wanted to share a recent update with federations for the deadline to file Action Plans for Rental Assistance co-ops. Co-ops with rental assistance agreement start dates of September 1, 2020, to March 1, 2021, were given an extension to file their Action Plan to April 1, 2022.  Today CMHC approved another extension for filing an Action Plan to August 1, 2022. Co-ops with rental assistance agreement start dates of September 1, 2020, to July 1, 2021, will now have until August 1, 2022, to file an Action Plan.

We are preparing communication for all rental assistance clients that will go out first thing tomorrow morning about the extension.

Please do reach out to me if you have any questions about this extension or any concerns.

Regards,

Franca

Every co-op in the Rental Assistance Program (FCHI-2) will need to complete an Action Plan covering the next three years. The launch of the Self Assessment and Action Plan will take place in the week of 7 March 2022, with a submission deadline of 1 August 2022 for your plan.

To help you with your filing, the Agency for Co-operative Housing has scheduled several training webinars cohosted with co‑op housing federations on the dates below. You’re welcome to join any of these sessions, but note the different time zones.

  • 15 March 2022 6:30 to 8:00 pm (Eastern Time) Cohosted with CHFT & PHCHF
  • 15 March 2022 6:30 to 8:00 pm (Western Time) Cohosted with CHF BC
  • 16 March 2022 6:30 to 8:00 pm (Eastern Time) Cohosted with CHASEO
  • 17 March 2022 6:30 to 8:00 pm (Mountain Time) Cohosted with NACHA
  • 21 March 2022 6:30 to 8:00 pm (Eastern Time) Cohosted with CHF Canada

To register, please send the Agency an email at info@agency.coop and include the name of your housing co‑op and your preferred training date.

All co-ops that have completed the voluntary Self Assessment (a questionnaire) and filed their Action Plan by 31 March 2022 will be entered for a draw for an iPad. At each session, we will also give away a virtual door prize: a $50 gift certificate to the grocery store of your choice.

More Information

The Agency has come up with an optional online Self Assessment that will help your co-op identify and decide on goals for your Action Plan. It’s a questionnaire that takes you through up to five key areas that are important to your co-op’s operations. When you’ve finished the Self Assessment, you can move straight into your Action Plan, using your answers to create one or more goals. You also have the freedom to make different choices or pause your work and come back to it.

Many co-ops will find the Self-Assessment useful, but it’s not required. If you wish, you will be able to go straight to the Action Plan and complete it via the Agency’s online platform, using your co-op username and login.

CMHC has set a deadline for filing your Action Plan based on when you joined the Rental Assistance Program. For co-ops with a starting date of 1 September 2020 to 1 March 2021, your filing deadline is 1 August 2022. We encourage your co-op to sign up for training right away.

If you’d like more information about what the Action Plan will involve, you’ll find it here.
