CHF BC’s Aging in Place Project Coordinator, Alison Planche presented the preliminary results of the Aging in Place survey to members at CHF BC and CHF Canada’s joint Member Forum on Monday, September 14. The survey was distributed to all co-ops both in print and via email in June and received a combined total of 862 responses from members of all ages, co-op boards and management companies. It asked a wide array of questions on the impact of an aging membership, concerns of aging members, financial considerations, challenges of accessibility and ideas for improving community involvement.The project coordinator will produce a final version of the results for distribution and CHF BC’s Aging in Place Committee will plan their next steps based on the survey results.The Member Forum was also an opportunity for members to connect and hear updates on the federations’ latest news and upcoming events. In particular, both CHF BC and CHF Canada presented on the continuing You Hold the Key Campaign and the “vote co-op housing” federal election campaign, and showcased CHF Canada’s new Vote Co-op Housing website.
